A look at divorce rates by occupation

Increased availability of data in the technological age has led to increased information about people in general. One researcher has analyzed divorce data and was able to determine how rates differed for individuals by occupation and industry. The results of the analysis may be interesting to Florida residents as they ponder the concept of divorce.

One amusing result of the analysis, which gathered data from the US Census Bureau's 5-Year American Community Survey of 2015, was that actuaries have the lowest rate of divorce. Since the duty of an actuary is to analyze risk, the conclusion makes sense. The occupation with the highest levels of divorce was gaming manager. Seems like those in the world of gambling are also willing to take more risks in love.

The researcher also found that individuals with higher income divorced less often than those who made less. In fact, many of the jobs in the list of higher breakup rates were lower-paying factory or industry jobs. The researcher also pointed out that the choice of occupation probably said more about the person's personality, and that the marriage dissolution was probably more related to an individual's temperament than profession.

In Florida, all types of people end up seeking divorce. And even though a person may be in a supposed high-risk or low-risk occupation, due to the unique situation of every person, it is hard to predict exactly who will require a marriage termination. A person facing divorce does not have to go it alone, however. An experienced family law attorney can guide an individual through the legal process of ending the marriage.
