How Child Support Is Determined

Your initial child support order is determined mainly by a formula. Based upon the incomes of both parties, the number of children supported, parental time sharing, and the cost of medical care and day care, the court will determine the amount of child support. This sum is to be paid to the parent who has the primary amount of overnight time with the child, which is determined by the child custody order.

In addition to ensuring support is calculated accurately, our lawyers can assist you with:

  • Modification of child support if your circumstances change
  • Enforcement of child support orders
